What is New England Institute of Technology known for?

The main campus of New England Institute of Technology is in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.  It is a private university accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.  The university has two other campuses both located in Warwick.  The Julian B. Gouse Campus is a large facility which contains both classroom and laboratory space.  The Access Road Campus opened in 2005 and houses the automotive technician program.  The university offers associate, bachelor’s, and graduate degrees in a variety of programs.  In the academic year 2018-2019 student enrollment was 2,922.

Students currently in high school who wish to attend the university should submit high school transcripts with an application.  Students who hold a GED equivalency should submit scores.  SAT or ACT scores are not required but may be submitted.  Adult students who have been out of school for more than three years will be required to take the Accuplacer Next Generation exams for placement in English and Mathematics.  Students for whom English is not their native language must also submit scores from a language proficiency examination such as TOEFL or IELTS.  Entering the health sciences programs requires more selective admissions criteria.  In this case, the high school GPA must be at least 3.0 and ACT or SAT scores are required.  Applicants to the nursing program must submit passing scores on the Kaplan Assessment for Nursing Applicants.  For any applicants who wish to earn credit by exam, CLEP scores are accepted.  The Academic Success Center on campus provides study help and resources for the placement test and the nursing entrance exam.

Programs are offered in various technical disciplines such as business management, manufacturing, criminal justice, architectural design, software engineering, ship building, and plumbing & heating ventilation.  Programs in health sciences include nursing, occupational therapy, and veterinary technology.  The nursing program offers both an associate degree in nursing, an RN to BSN program, and a graduate level nursing program.  Graduates of the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination to become licensed Registered Nurses.  The Occupational Therapy Program offers an Associate of Science degree to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant as well as a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.  The university also offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and both associate and bachelor’s degree programs in Criminal Justice.
