Georgia Gwinnett College, part of the University System of Georgia, opened in 2006 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. After opening with only 118 students, the college now enrolls approximately 12,000 students. Accreditation has been awarded by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or SACS. The average high school GPA of students admitted to the school is approximately 2.7. Students must also submit ACT or SAT scores or take the Accuplacer placement exams. The Residual ACT test is offered in the Office of Testing Services for students who need to submit test scores. Students who are not native English speakers must take the TOEFL exam which is also offered on campus. The college accepts credit by examination through the CLEP and AP programs. DSST exams are also available.

The School of Education offers Bachelor of Science degrees in elementary education and special education. Also offered are the GACE Assessment for Paraprofessionals and GACE assessment necessary for specific certification areas. The School of Health Sciences awards Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing. Students who earn the BSN may take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Admission to the program requires a minimum GPA in prerequisite courses and a minimum overall score of 70% on the ATI TEAS exam which may be taken at the school testing services facility.
