What is West Coast University known for?

Claiming regional accreditation through WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) Senior College and University Commission, West Coast University provides healthcare degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate levels.  It offers online programs but also operates physical campuses in California, Texas, and Florida.  In California, the Orange County campus provides students with the option of obtaining one of only six Bachelor of Science degrees in Dental Hygiene offered throughout the state and the Ontario campus provides facilities for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree programs.  In Los Angeles, students can pursue both undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing.  The Los Angeles Center for Graduate Studies is the location of the new Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Pharmacy programs.  The newest campus, which is located in Miami, includes a 5,000 square foot simulation center and offers students the option of obtaining their degrees with classes taken solely in the evening and on weekends.  The Dallas campus similarly enables students to earn their Nursing BSN through evening and weekend classes, and it has received approval by the Texas Board of Nursing.

While the university collects Verbal and Quantitative scores from the SAT and ACT, students entering the Nursing BSN program must pass an admissions exam.  HESI scores must fall within 3 years of enrollment, while TEAS scores must come from within one year of enrollment in the Nursing BSN program.  Additionally, international students may be required to provide scores from the TOEFL.  In California, a composite score calculated from high school GPA and exam scores will be used to determine admissions.  When students are nearing completion in the program, a course on the Integration of Nursing Concepts includes an ATI Comprehensive Predictor Assessment that will provide them with a predictive probability score related to their ability to pass the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination).
