What is Delta College MI known for?

Delta College is located near Bay City, Michigan. This community college serves the counties of Bay, Saginaw, and Midland. In addition to the main campus, three learning centers are available, one in each county.   The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and awards associate degrees and certificates. The student enrollment in fall of 2018 was approximately 10,030.

The college accepts any student who has a high school diploma, high school equivalency such as GED, or a home school diploma (if student is at least 17 years old). They will also accept international students with an approved student visa or students who have not graduated high school (provided it is past the year they had been scheduled to graduate). Students are required to take placement exams in English, Math, and Reading. Students who have certain SAT or ACT scores may be exempt from placement testing. The college administers the Accuplacer test for the purpose of placement. It is offered on campus in the testing center. Students may apply for credit by exam. The college accepts AP, CLEP, and CBE results for this purpose. International students must have documentation of proficiency with the English language. A score on the TOEFL or IELTS may be submitted for this purpose.

For students interested in transferring to complete a bachelor’s degree, Delta has transfer agreements with some four-year institutions. The Education program at the college has both “2 + 2” and “3 + 1” transfer agreements. The transfer agreement with Ferris State is “3 + 1”. Other schools with transfer agreements are Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University. The nursing program also has transfer arrangements with schools such as Concordia University, Davenport University, and the University of Detroit among others. Students can work towards their BSN as they are completing their associate degree nursing program and then transfer for completion. Also available for nursing students are programs transitioning from paramedic or practical nursing to registered nursing programs. After completing the associate degree nursing program, students may take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
