I am very pleased to report that my daughter did pass her Algebra 1 SOL successfully, and I 100% credit that to MathHelp. There were several features that worked really well for her. We loved the way the lessons were broken up into smaller chunks, with the ability to quickly determine what she already knew vs where the learning gaps were. We also loved the short video tutorials for the lessons that she needed a refresher for. This was really ideal, since kids today have such a short attention span. As a parent, I also liked the fact that she could work independently through the lessons, but I had the ability to check her grades to see how she was scoring and progressing.Monica Jackson - May 2024
I was extremely happy to find that you have courses specifically geared toward the different standardized tests. I really can’t say enough about this – you really hit a home run!Charles
There are about 50 standardized math test prep courses right here. Better than using the book because of the teachers and practice tests, it is like having your own tutor, but a lot less maintenance. The best program for math test prep that I have found so far!Lynda
I was very afraid to take standardized tests, but this site made it possible for me to have the courage to do it. Thanks!Cindy
This site is excellent for all levels of skill. I am an adult and preparing for a standardized test. It allows me to work independently at my pace. User friendly and I especially like the teachers lessons. Makes math fun!Jay
Excellent site. Has many standardized tests. Plenty of practice, and the video teacher is easy to understand and she talks clear! There are challenges and more.Angie
Math is my weakest subject but this program explains everything perfectly! It has practice, self-tests, printable work sheets (you can also just copy it all down on paper), instructional videos and even notes. I love this program and use it every morning to prepare for an upcoming standardized math test. This truly is a great buy!Laura
This website is amazing! Anything you need for ANY standardized test is on this website. The videos are high quality, the instructor is very knowledgable and straight to the point. I cannot recommend this enough!Joey

What is the VA SOL Algebra 1 Test?
The Standards of Learning (SOL) is a public school standardized testing program in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It sets forth learning and achievement expectations for core subjects for grades K-12 in Virginia's Public Schools. The standards represent what many teachers, school administrators, parents, and business and community leaders believe schools should teach and students should learn. The Virginia Department of Education, schools, and school systems routinely receive essential feedback on the effectiveness of implementation and address effective instructional strategies and best practices. They address student achievement in four critical areas: (1) English, (2) mathematics, (3) science, and (4) history/social studies. Students are assessed in English and mathematics in grades 3-8 and upon completion of certain high school level courses. Science and history SOL are administered in grades 4, 5, and 8 and at the end of completing high school courses in these respective subjects.
A student must get a raw score of 400 or higher on their SOL(s) in order to pass the test. A student's advancement to the next grade is not contingent on passing any SOL tests. Passing with a raw score of 500 is considered advanced/proficient. A perfect score is 600. 399 or below is considered failure.
The scores are scaled and do not correlate to the percentage of correct answers (a passing score of 400 does not indicate a student got 66% of the questions correct). Each test has its own scale and may not be the same as another SOL test.
