If you’re planning to take the TSI math placement test, preparation is critical. The resources you’ll find through the TSI’s official website are helpful, but they aren’t nearly enough. A few practice questions with written math instruction behind them aren’t going to move the needle. Our online TSI math test prep course is miles ahead of these resources or anything else you’ll find.

I took my TSIA2 Math test yesterday and scored a 971! Back in December, I scored a 938, so this improvement means a lot to me. The TSIA2 Math help was incredibly useful and strengthened my math skills. The most helpful lessons for me were Linear Equations in Two Variables and Rational expressions and equations. I truly appreciate the support. Thank you!
I took my TSIA2 exam today and I scored a 966 on the math portion! I’m very grateful to the course on math help. It really helped refresh my brain on all the math concepts I had learned in high school. I really enjoyed the word problems, especially the help on translating English to algebra. I learned so much and the repetition of it all really helped everything stick! Thank you for all the math help!
It helped more than I expected! I’ve been out of high school 5 years, needed a refresher. I went through every module and ended up scoring a 975/999 on my TSI math portion. It sure helped a lot, just make sure you give yourself enough time to study all of the material. Two weeks sufficed fine for me.
I think the whole TSIA2 course was designed very well. I am super scared of Math in general. Have started studying after 35 yrs, so this course was a saviour. It was very clear and precise for my needs. Thank you for creating it.
I annihilated the TSIA2 test! The most helpful part of the course for me was it’s step-by-step format and practice questions and its slowly ramps up in difficulty - which kept me motivated. The way the course is formatted made it incredibly satisfying and easy to learn.
Thank you so much for your lessons! I came into this having forgotten pretty much everything about math except the basics and I left confidently taking the TSI and passing with no trouble at all! I was impressed by my score (976!) and so proud of myself! I can’t thank you enough. I really liked how easy it was to follow the videos and the freedom to go at my own pace. Thank you from a 35 year old mother of 3 finally following her dreams to become a teacher. I truly couldn’t have done it without you!
I passed my TSIA2 test, and honestly I tried out so many different websites; Mathhelp was by far the best and worth every penny! It was easy to follow and went over exactly what I needed to know.

How do I prepare for the TSI exam?

1. Take a Gradual Approach

Start with an introduction to the concepts through whiteboard videos. Next, use a step-by-step guide for TSI math practice sessions featuring detailed explanations to tackle various TSI math questions. Finally, test yourself on what you've learned. This gradual approach to every topic makes for successful TSI math prep.

2. Be Thorough but Efficient

The best TSI math test prep is both thorough and efficient. Your time is valuable, so explanations must be straightforward and clear, without any fluff. And if a concept isn't covered on the TSI test, it better not be included in your studies. Use diagnostic pre-tests to tell you what you already know and what you don't so that your TSI prep focuses on the lessons that will have the most impact on your exam results.

3. Build Your Base

Of course, not every student will be able to fly through the TSI course. If you've been out of school for some time, or if you’ve always struggled with math and have no clue how to pass the TSI math test, you may need to go back to the basics. For students who require extensive help, quick links to foundational lessons that focus on core concepts are key. If you need to review your knowledge base before moving on to more advanced topics, this TSI math practice test feature can be a lifesaver!

What is on the TSI?

The TSI test, or Texas Success Initiative Assessment, is designed to match incoming college students with appropriate college courses. The TSI exam has two sections: Math and ELAR (English Language Arts and Reading). To prepare effectively, consider using an online course for TSI math practice.

Do you need to study for the TSI?

Yes, you need to study for the TSI, and the good news is that you can. One way is to try sample questions. Another is to take a TSI test prep course that provides thorough instruction. The instructional approach is particularly effective when studying for the math section of the exam.

What score do you need to pass the TSI?

The passing score for the Math TSI is either 950 or an ABE diagnostic level of 6. The scoring for the ELAR component is more complicated. Passing the ELAR portion requires a placement score of 945 and an essay score of 5. If your score is under 945, you must have an essay score of 5 combined with an ABE diagnostic level of 5. It's important to note that the TSI Assessment is not a pass/fail test. The “passing score” is the benchmark score that determines college readiness.

What math is on the TSI?

The TSI math test covers essential topics from algebra, geometry, and data analysis, which are core skills necessary for success on the exam. Additional topics include probability and statistics, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of your math abilities. Mastery of these areas is crucial to achieving a good score which means they should be emphasized in TSI math practice sessions.

Is the TSI math test hard?

The TSI math can be hard because it’s a computer-adaptive test. In other words, if you answer a question correctly, the next question will be more difficult. Therefore, even an excellent math student will find the test demanding. The good news is that the harder the questions become, the higher the possible score.

How many questions are on the TSI math test?

The TSI math test has 20 multiple-choice questions. However, if you don't meet the college readiness score of 950, you will have to take the Math Diagnostic. This part of the test contains 48 questions, 12 from each of the 4 content categories that comprise the overall test.

What should I study for the TSI math test?

The TSI math test covers the following concepts:

  1. Quantitative Reasoning
  2. Algebraic Reasoning
  3. Geometric and Spatial Reasoning
  4. Probabilistic and Statistical Reasoning

To thoroughly prepare, focus on data analysis, which will enhance your ability to interpret and manipulate numerical data effectively. Algebra and geometry are also vital to master, as they are integral to many of the questions you'll encounter on the test. Use the TSI math practice to solidify these skills and increase your confidence in handling various mathematical problems.

How do I study for the TSI Math?

  1. Pre-Tests. Start each section with a short pre-test to determine if you already know the material.
  2. Instruction and Guided Practice. Video and audio explanations are core to your TSI math test prep.
  3. Practice Tests. Begin with our TSI math practice test to assess your current knowledge level.

Can I take the TSI test online?

Check with your college or university to see if you can take the TSI test online. If your institution does allow you to take the test online, they will use a remote test proctoring program. You'll need a computer with a microphone and camera so that you can be monitored.

I passed the TSI! I haven’t done math for about 3 and 1/2 years, due to graduating high school at 18. This was a great refresher for me! I am very grateful for your help, my first attempt at the TSI about a year ago I failed, and this time like I said I passed it.David Tagg - January 2025

Extremely helpful. I aced my TSI on the first attempt.Geoffrey Rwenyo - July 2024

The TSI test went great! I scored a 279 and only needed a 250. It was very helpful how the course was broken down into each individual part and to have concepts linked below the instruction videos so that if you'd forgotten anything you easily had the core/basic idea listed there to go back and review. Without the course I wouldn't have passed the test and it was awesome to be able to go online and find a resource that wasn't super expensive and involved. It was straightforward and got down to business and I appreciate that so much, especially as an adult coming back into stuff like this. I would highly recommend the course to anyone that needs a refresher and wants to feel confident in taking their exam. Thanks again for having such a great course available!Ryan Lewis - June 2024

What is the TSI Test?

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) is essential for incoming Texas college students who are not exempt. It evaluates readiness for college-level courses in reading, writing, and mathematics. The TSIA includes a math section on algebra, geometry, and statistics, aligning with Texas College and Career Readiness Standards. Are you worried about how many questions are on the TSI math test? This assessment is designed to gauge your math skills through various formats, including multiple-choice questions and potentially an essay in the writing section.

The TSIA is computer-adaptive, adjusting the difficulty of questions based on your answers, and it is untimed to allow thorough completion. The math section emphasizes data analysis and provides a platform for students to demonstrate their understanding through TSI math practice. Engaging in our TSI math practice test can be particularly beneficial in enhancing your preparation. Depending on your performance, you might also undergo additional diagnostic testing to pinpoint specific academic strengths and weaknesses, helping tailor interventions or developmental courses to boost your readiness for college-level work.
