The North Carolina Diagnostic and Placement Test (NC DAP) is used by public colleges and universities in that state to determine whether a student is ready to be successful in college course work and to decide into which courses a student should be placed. The test covers concepts in reading, writing, and mathematics.
The test may be used in conjunction with multiple measures such as high school grades or scores from the ACT or SAT test. Students who have not otherwise demonstrated college readiness may be required to take the NC DAP.
